Yeah, I figured as much (though aliens would have been cooler). Was just surprised by how much gas/pressure was being generated by their biological processes. Impressive.

You had a melon that got a bacterial or fungal injection... It was basically fermenting and the pressure (gas release) made the bubbling happen...

Just found one on our front porch in Whonnock - Maple Ridge, British Columbia. Thought it was a cockroach at first but researched it and found this site. It is about 4 inches long in total and very aggressive. My daughter will be taking it to her Biology 12 class in the morning and will then let it go. Scared us to death when we first saw it and the info on it is even scarrier. Never seen one before in my whole 40 years. Would love to know approximately how many have been seen up here or roughly what their population may be.

While it's difficult to tell from this still frame, all of the kids around her are in constant motion, and all of us parents are jumping around behind the cameras trying to get a good picture. I'm sure Kaia was a bit in shock at all the motion/noise :)
