  • I think I'll blog tomorrow on Obama's Defense Experience . . .it will be a pretty short post.
  • The problem is hypocrisy, Shannon. The Republican campaign has made a big deal about how important national/international experience is, but then they select a running mate who is a thinly veiled ploy to gain women and far-right voters.

Palin’s hometown of 9,000 had a budget of 13 million per year. For argument’s sake let’s ignore Obama's 2 years in the senate, his extensive and well received international trip, and his work in Chicago. Obama’s campaign ALONE has a budget three times that EACH MONTH - and has been going on since February 2007 (which, for you non-math majors out there, is only 1 month shy of Palin’s paltry 20 months as mayor).
  • I've made several international trips and was well received...wow! I'm just as qualified as Obama!

I firmly believe the difference in this case (and please note: I have NOT decided who I am voting for) is that THE man for the job, THE man holding the executive level powers in the case of McCain has extensive national/international experience.

Also, one other question for my Obama mclovin' husband . . .how can you be the candidate for change and pick an 8 TERM senator as your running mate?
  • wow, this is quite an exchange. i may regret this later, but i wanna join in. my problem with tucker (and no offence shannon's but your argument as well) is that it is purely deflecting and then redirection the question at hand. and the answers given were not original, but straight out of talking points playbook. (full disclosure here, i love obama)
  • i don't why i put an apostrophe in your name shannon. there is clearly only one of you. and wow, there are a lot of typos in my comment.
  • Yeah, gonna agree with Vincent on this one - you are changing the subject.

McCain stressed the importance of national experience. Don't you think THE man should hold up his own VP choice to the same criteria?
  • "I’ve made several international trips and was well received…wow! I’m just as qualified as Obama! "

Actually, I would say that makes you more qualified than Palin. Exactly how many world leaders did you meet with, again? :)
  • Oh, and it might help if your VP candidate actually knew what the vice president does.
  • To be fair, the paragraph starting "Palin’s hometown of 9,000..." above is not entirely coherent. She was mayor for much longer than 20 months (it was 6 years). She was governor for 20 months.
